Abstract | A year ago when the author wrote and circulated the call for papers on the theme "The Future of Art Curriculum," she did not imagine a conversation about the future being as urgent and dynamic as it is now that humans worldwide are faced with the challenges of a pandemic. Different conceptions of the future inform art curriculum, but the reverse is also true--artistic and creative activity are necessary for imagining and shaping a sustainable future. This issue of "Art Education" is the second in a special three-part series spanning May, July, and September of 2020 that explores the future of art curriculum. It features conversations, pedagogies, instructional resources, tools for assessment, and research generated from futures thinking. (ERIC). |
