Abstract	Important constructions of identity can occur in unique places that provide an opportunity for exploration (Fantus, 2013). In the present study, we explored the experiences of gay men living in or visiting Provincetown, Massachusetts. Provincetown is a town in America with a large gay population and with an important history related to freedom and activism for gay men. Using purposeful intensity sampling, 15 gay men who live in or were visiting Provincetown were selected for semi-structured interviews in order to explore their experience of the town. The data presented four emergent themes important among participants: (1) an appreciation for the beauty in Provincetown, (2) a focus on the history of Provincetown, (3) a feeling of community, and (4) the transient nature of Provincetown. Participants also spoke in detail about the freedom they felt while in Provincetown, which was central to their overall experience. (As Provided).
