| Abstract | Innovations in content delivery abound in the world today, providing very effective tools for engaging students in meaningful learning. Social studies teachers have long known that having students memorize names and dates is a fairly useless exercise. Good teachers present material so that students can understand its application in their lives. Great teachers go a step further and find ways to create empathy and promote individual action. It was with this lofty latter goal that the author created 22.33, a podcast of "life-changing stories" from international exchanges, to instill in listeners the importance of global connectivity and mutual understanding. 22.33 refers to the U.S. Code: Title 22, Chapter 33 is the law that created the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, signed into law by President Kennedy in 1961.
