Abstract | The current study explores possible incentives and disincentives among Greek secondary school and university students for using public transport. A 24-items questionnaire was used to elicit the beliefs of 913 students. Collected data was subjected to significance testing through t-test and Mann-Whitney U-test, depending on the significance of the Levene test for homogeneity. Perceived crowdedness, lack of comfort, longer journey times, and inconvenience were most likely to act as disincentives, whereas perceived economy of public transport and parking problems for private car use acted as incentives. Related possible environmental education opportunities are also discussed. (As Provided). |
