| Abstract | The authors challenged their second grade students to design and build a small house for a Skylander toy character that would be economical, yet able to withstand "the elements of wind and rain." While this social studies (economics)/science/math integrated project was completed with second grade students, the lessons presented in this article can be adapted to fit various grade levels and allotted class time. Utilizing dimensions of the College, Career, and Civic Framework (C3 Framework), the Design, Build, and Test project presented students with opportunities to collaborate, make deliberate choices, consider the impact of their choices, and use critical thinking skills as they determined how to best use selected materials, analyze the outcomes, and provide thoughtful critique.
