Abstract | Teaching is often referred to as an artistic practice that relies on modes of thinking and feeling. Effective teaching requires experience, experimentation, and intuition to make decisions that are right for each unique classroom situation. This article describes a multisite case study that examines how three fifth-year art teachers were mentored and how it influenced their complex role as mentors. The authors found that to successfully navigate this terrain, it is important for both mentor teachers and student teachers to articulate what they hope to accomplish during their time together as well as discuss expectations. In turn, this will help avoid potential conflict between both parties. (ERIC). |
