Abstract | Personally-owned laptops and other "Bring-Your-Own-Device" (BYOD) scenarios have become increasingly prevalent in today's work environments and classrooms. However, few studies have examined the viability and practicality of such devices in the higher-education classroom. This study used a survey instrument to explore the concept of BYOD in the classroom. Specifically, undergraduate and graduate students were asked to report their use (both inside and outside of the classroom) of personally-owned devices, and their use of university-managed computer labs. The findings of this research will be of interest to higher-education faculty, administrators, and Information Technology departments. (As Provided). |
