Abstract | Researchers have long recognized that instructors face distinctive challenges at different career stages. While much work has been done on developing best practices around early career faculty, the literature only pays scant attention to later-career or senior faculty (Sorcinelli, 1999; Zeig and Baldwin, 2013). The most common challenges cited by senior faculty are those of vitality, including coping with burnout, waning interest, and growing disengagement with their fields. This study presents the results of a study that engages participants in the question: what strategies and processes do senior faculty use to maintain and regain creativity and passion in their work? (As Provided). |
