Abstract | This study reports on an action research on increasing the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' confidence in speaking. Participants involved in this study were 16 male university students who had an upper-intermediate level of English. Extra speaking activities were incorporated into the classroom for 8 successive weeks. Insights into the students' confidence development were gained through qualitative analysis of their reflective journals. The findings of this study suggest that second language teachers should seek ways to increase students' collaboration in the classroom to help them gain confidence in speaking. (As Provided). |
