AbstractA systematic review was conducted to synthesize the evidence related to the effectiveness of baby sign language for children with typical development. This response to a Commentary on the review stresses that the primary purpose of the review was to assist caregivers and policy makers with informed decision-making related to the benefits of the intervention. This response reiterates the need for rigorous studies to evaluate whether early exposure to baby sign can enhance children's development. While there is no conclusive evidence to support the effectiveness of baby sign intervention, this response concludes that there is also no evidence that early exposure to sign language negatively affects typical development.
