Abstract | There can be multiple benefits of scientists engaging with young people, including motivation and inspiration for all involved. But there are risks, particularly if scientists do not consider the interests and needs of young people or listen to what they have to say. We argue that "dialogue" between scientists, young people and teachers is critical for good "engagement." Over the last 30 years, opportunities for engagement have increased hugely, although finding what is available can be hard. Teacher involvement is crucial to get the most out of interactions between young people and scientists. (As Provided). |
