Abstract | Because early childhood education sets the stage for children's academic trajectory, it is important to think carefully about how schools treat, position, and instruct young children of immigrants as well as immigrant parents and teachers. The relational and pedagogical imperatives shared in this article are meant to extend an invitation to broaden one's early childhood ideals and consider the perspectives and ideas of immigrant communities. Listening, rather than assuming, and asking questions, rather than commanding, will improve the field of early childhood's ability to meet the needs of a rapidly diversifying nation of children beginning their schooling years.
