Abstract | The Principal is arguably the most influential person on a school campus. If a unified school district employs principals, they have a centralized support system to assist them in their quest to advance the community they serve. This work uses a phenomenological approach to investigate the perception principals have towards the support systems in unified school districts as it pertains to their efforts to create a culture conducive to a positive learning environment that promotes excellence in academics. This research found that an effective system of support for principals is not simply needed. A thriving, successful learning community needs to exist. Because of this, this research provides factors that should be considered when centralized office supervisors are attempting to create principals' support systems, as well as additional considerations for principals when attempting to secure required support.
