AbstractThe past two years of the pandemic have increased student and teacher anxiety and depression as the focus on public schools have added to the national angst, on topics such as race and equity, curriculum and material taught, and teacher training. This places more emphasis on school leaders to play an active role in improving school climate and culture. This qualitative research investigation presents findings from interviews of school leaders about how they assess the fidelity of the implementation and observed effects of culturally proficient practices and collective efficacy in their institution. The problem investigated will be whether and what types of evidence-based tools and practices leaders utilized to evaluate the degree of implementation or the resulting effects of their cultural proficiency or collective efficacy practices. The investigation was guided by the following research questions: "What are the administrative leadership teams' perceptions of their practices utilized to support efforts to implement collective efficacy?" and; "What strategies do administrative leadership teams perceive they use to support their implementation related to cultural proficiency?" This research conducted interviews with leadership teams of institutions reporting that they work to implement culturally proficient practices and build collective efficacy. The leadership teams interviewed all reside within one suburban area of a metropolitan section of one Midwestern state. Through the problem-based learning investigation, the research team found while school leaders understand the need for creating an effective, efficacious, culturally proficient organization, leaders must clearly communicate to build trust and continuously work to build genuine relationships. Yet, due to varying needs and differing organizational structures, there is no one universal evaluation tool available to support school leadership.
