Abstract | This correlational research design analyzes the identity development of career and technical education high school students. Adolescents have a choice to make: enter a traditional high school or pursue a high school education in a career and technical education setting. The focus of getting an education in a career and technical education setting is to prepare students for the workforce upon the completion of high school. Currently, the United States is experiencing a skills gap. There are currently not enough skilled workers to fill positions. Career and technical education is geared towards giving students the skills necessary to be prepared to enter the world of work. This study focuses on the relationship between ego identity and vocational identity in high school students who attend a career and technical high school.
