AbstractEmerging adulthood, the period of time between adolescence and adulthood, is full of new adjustments. During this time, individuals must acclimate to heightened expectations with diminished support. Individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) experience even greater academic and vocational difficulty during emerging adulthood due to deficits in self-regulation skills that impact their ability to be organized, plan ahead, and manage their time effectively. Current interventions are inadequate for addressing the specific needs of this population. The purpose of this dissertation is to design a mobile application (app) to help emerging adults with ADHD develop the skills necessary to be successful. The app will use unique components such as personalized feedback, motivation, and accountability features designed to engage users and go beyond accommodation to create lasting and generalizable behavior change. The ultimate goal of the app is for users to acquire new skills and habits to reduce reliance on the app when they feel competent and confident in their skills. A functioning app will not be developed at this time, but specific app features will be explained, and a wireframe of the app will be created.
