AbstractThe quest for tertiary education by citizens has led to an unabated increase in undergraduate students' enrollment in Nigerian universities. It is disheartening that this increase has not been matched with the expected provision of residential housing or hostels and other infrastructural facilities necessary for students' career growth, success, and development. The objective of this quantitative correlation research was to examine the correspondence between the criterion variable, undergraduate academic performance, and five predictor variables: type of residence, gender, age, employment status, and academic major of study in Western Delta University Oghara, Delta State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprised 111 300-level undergraduate students who are unmarried and reside in on-campus and off-campus housings, while qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, mean, standard deviation, and percentages, Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to ascertain the interrelatedness of the criterion variable and the predictor variables. Study results revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between the criterion variable (academic performance) and the predictor variables (type of residence, gender, age, and employment status) except academic major. The findings suggest institution leaders, practitioners, government, and students can improve their understanding of how to explore available alternatives and quality decision-making in the provision of modern housing and infrastructural facilities. Such strides can ultimately enhance students' academic success and growth. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
