Abstract | This study investigates Agile Education and addresses the need for more empirical data on how graduates experience and describe the effectiveness of their Agile Education when applied in the IT workforce. The widespread adoption of agile methods has increased IT employers' demand for professionals with agile experience and created a gap between academic preparation and the IT industry. Seminal and contemporary research has confirmed that traditional education methods create deficiencies in workforce readiness due to the gap in practical experience. Agile Education has been adopted as a new andragogical approach to prepare IT graduates for the IT workforce and has been shown to positively impact the transmission of contemporary workforce competencies and skills. Existing research has already established the importance of Agile Education to academic preparation, its usefulness in developing practical IT workforce skills, and alignment with IT workforce requirements; however, there is a gap in research examining the experiences of graduates and how they describe the effectiveness of their Agile Education when applied in the IT workforce. The tenets of the experiential learning theory served as a baseline theory for this study. This generic qualitative study focused on Agile Education and specifically explored how graduates experience and describe the effectiveness of their Agile Education when applied in the IT workforce. A purposive and snowball sampling strategy and design were used, along with a semi-structured interview technique for data collection. The findings were consistent with the literature review, provided insight into the pros and cons of the current application of Agile Education, and illustrated the successes and challenges IT graduates experienced entering and assimilating into the IT workforce following an Agile Education.
