Abstract | The purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives of international students concerning the resources and support they are offered while enrolled as community college students. This research was guided by the following questions: What cultural, academic, and social barriers do international students at community colleges face? What resources and support do community colleges offer to help students with these challenges? How do international students at community colleges perceive the offered resources and support in terms of their ability to adjust or cope culturally, academically, and socially? The methodology for this study was qualitative, specifically Inductive Thematic Analysis. Eight international students at a suburban community college in a mid-Atlantic state in the United Sates were interviewed. Through the interviews, the researcher found seven themes based on the international students' response: communications, written English, friendships, international club, supportive professors, tutoring and counseling. In this study, the researcher focused on three findings: cultural awareness, English development, and campus integration. Although the sample size was limited, this study could have important contributions for the field, as it expands the understanding of the international student experience at community colleges, providing important insights into student support. Additionally, admissions officers may gain deeper perspectives into how to recruit and retain international students at community colleges.
