Abstract | Heavy academic workload, various stressors, and the high demands a nursing student felt can affect their level of test anxiety. This descriptive interventional study explored cognitive test anxiety in prelicensure nursing students and the effects of mindfulness meditation with Headspace. The Science of Unitary Human Beings and its components supported using mindfulness meditation to change patterns through energy fields and openness. Nursing students from a bachelor of science nursing program (n = 23) completed the Cognitive Test Anxiety Scale-2 (CTAS-2) before and after the Headspace intervention, which was performed for eight weeks. Descriptive, comparative, and correlational analyses were completed. Significant decreases in the pre-and post-test CTAS-2 scores (Mdn = 60, Mdn = 45) respectively (Z = -3.01, p < 0.001) were observed. When mindfulness meditation was performed for more than 200 minutes, a negative association was noted r[subscript s](13) = -.567, p > 0.022. The findings showed that using Headspace mindfulness meditation decreased cognitive test anxiety. Further studies have been recommended to explore mindfulness meditation and cognitive test anxiety with prelicensure nursing students.
