Abstract | To be successful in school and society, students must learn to read proficiently. Two evidenced based reading interventions, repeated reading and listening passage preview, and a combination of the two have shown to be effective in increasing oral reading fluency. However, the current literature is lacking on how preference of the interventions can affect oral reading fluency. The current study seeks to examine the effects of preference on oral reading fluency for two fourth grade students, by alternating repeated reading, listening passage preview, and a combination of repeated reading and listening passage preview. Each student was asked which intervention was their most preferred, and that intervention was given during a final phase of the study for one student. The results indicated repeated reading, listening passage preview, and the combination of the interventions were effective at increasing students' oral reading fluency. Results also indicated that the most preferred intervention was the most effective at increasing one student's oral reading fluency but was not for the other student.
