Abstract | This proposal reports on the use of facilitators to help develop networked learning communities. The findings presented herein are derived from a five-year study (2013-2018) designed to ascertain how these collaborative networks function and evolve as well as to assess their possible impact on the educational contexts they are located in. Semi-structured interviews, standardized questionnaires and document analysis were used to explore the role of the facilitators and their conceptualization by agents from the collaborative networks as well as the facilitators themselves. Facilitators provide structural support and build bridges between the different cultures of the various people involved in creating collaborative networks. At the same time, there is a risk of dependency and "shadow management" associated with the facilitators. (As Provided). |
