Abstract | This study explored the relationship between perceived leadership style and the organizational climate of elementary schools when controlling for teacher gender, age and tenure. McAllen Independent School District has a total of 20 elementary schools all of which received the link to complete the survey. A total of 275 teachers participated in the study by rating the climate of their school, as measured by the "Organizational Climate Descriptive Questionnaire-Revised Elementary" (OCDQ-RE), respectively, and the leadership styles of their principals as measured by the "Authentic Leadership Questionnaire" (ALQ). A multiple regression was conducted for each of the dimensions of organizational climate and in all instances, leadership style was found to add to the regression model when controlling for teacher gender, age and tenure. The results indicated that the higher the teachers rated their principal as being Supportive and teacher behaviors as Intimate and Collegial, the higher they rated Authentic Leadership behaviors: Relational Transparency, Balanced Processing, and Self Awareness. Also, results indicated that the higher the teachers rated the Internalized Moral Ethical behaviors of the principal, the lower they rated principal Supportive behavior.
