Abstract | "Special Education International Perspectives" is divided into two volumes: Volume 27, "Biopsychosocial, Cultural, and Disability Aspects" and Volume 28, "Practices across the Globe." There is limited literature examining the origins, practices, and challenges in special education from an international perspective; as such these volumes add considerably to the knowledge base across the globe. Following a preface, chapters in this volume include: (1) Biopsychosocial Approaches to Understanding Disability: Building Connections--How Teachers Matter (Sandra Burkhardt); (2) Diversity and Disability (Sandra Burkhardt); (3) Cognitive Impairment and Intellectual Disability (Michael L. Wehmeyer, Karrie Shogren, Miguel Angel Verdugo, Laura Nota, Salvatore Soresi, Suk-Hyang Lee, and Yves Lachapelle); (4) Students with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (Jeffrey P. Bakken and Stephanie Gaddy); (5) Autism Spectrum Disorders: The Worldwide Charm and Challenge of Autism Spectrum Disorders (Emily Boshkoff Johnson); (6) International Perspectives on Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (Frederick J. Brigham); (7) Speech and Language Impairments (Satasha L. Green and Kimberly M. Edwards); and (8) Technological Advances in Special Education (Emily C. Bouck and Sara Flanagan). (ERIC). |
