Abstract	An underrepresented population of homeschool students are attending colleges and universities and have quietly obtained their degrees. This qualitative study was intended to understand how these former homeschool students navigated the transition into college and what led to their paths to success. The researcher used a narrative methodology approach to acquire the rich lived experiences of 8 homeschool students who attended a public higher education institution within the state of Colorado. The purpose was to understand each student's homeschool experience, to listen and learn how these 8 students made the transition to their specific public higher education institutions, and what they perceived made them successful in this transition. From the conversations and interviews, 4 themes arose of the homeschool experience of the students, how they chose their specific institution, how their transition experience was for them, and what 1 item each student determined helped make him or her successful in this transition to public higher education. Several students noted that self-motivation in how they approached homework and their studies helped; one student used the word independent learner to describe her experience. Learning how to socially integrate into the college life was integral to other students' successes in their transition. It is important to note, each homeschool student had parents who attended college and self-selected to educate their children. To conclude, suggestions are made for institutions to conduct further research of homeschooled students, their learning capabilities and success of transitioning, the creation of a separate department on campuses to support these students in the college career, and create education opportunities to help parents understand the transition to the college life.
