Abstract | This qualitative research dissertation examines how storytelling, as a modem means of communication, can be an effective pedagogical method to engage and energize students. By promoting the greatest social interaction and development of the most common form of literacy in the classroom, storytelling is a viable and instructional tool to teach cultural competence. The purpose is to ascertain what storytelling means to students in a Community College setting, and how they feel it could be integrated into their curriculum. In the course of this research, participants were asked if they wanted more storytelling in their curriculum. After listening to the participants, it was clear that storytelling engaged their minds, and gave their lessons a lasting impression unlike any other methods. This research embarks on an examination of such stories in search of transformational trends to solidify a better curriculum for all disciplines.
