AbstractPresents a guide for employers as to how they can support young care leavers to gain the skills, experience and confidence they need to gain, stay and progress in work. Describes the challenges faced by care leavers and why employers should support them into work. Outlines the positive aspects for businesses such as creating a diverse workforce, making good use of the Apprenticeship Levy, improving support for other employees and improving young people's lives and job prospects. Explains the funding advantages of taking on care leavers as apprentices. Provides hints and tips for employers to support care leavers at all stages of their employment. Includes advice on work experience, job shadowing, traineeships, recruitment and selection and providing ongoing support to care leavers once in work. Outlines some of the national programmes available to help care leavers into work such as Care2Work, The Prince's Trust and Catch-22. Describes the work experience options provided by Job Centres. Presents case studies of care leavers who have benefitted from support into work. Provides a list of useful websites and resources. (As Provided).
