Abstract | Through the collaboration of its business and academic partners, the Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) launched the National Higher Education and Workforce Initiative (HEWI) to support business-higher education partnerships that co-design innovative community college and university pathways to careers, as well as maximize work-based learning for students to increase transfers, degree attainment, and connections to living-wage jobs. This case study examines how BHEF members, Washington University in St. Louis (Washington University) and The Boeing Company (Boeing), are collaborating with St. Louis Community College (STLCC) and the University of Missouri in St. Louis (UMSL) to develop a diverse regional engineering talent ecosystem.
