Abstract | Researchers recently have examined the current global trend and frequently demanded the inclusion of global education in the curriculum of higher education to prepare students for global engagement. They also indicated that the lack of global awareness and motivation among the faculty of higher education reflected failures on the part of students' understanding of national and international issues. The purpose of this non-experimental quantitative correlational study was to explore whether relationships exist between knowledge of global competence, global citizenry, and the intention to pursue global ventures. A random sampling method used with the cooperation of Kennesaw State University (KSU) Registrar by providing with e-mail addresses of senior undergraduate students without any personal identification for recruitment. Participants included eligible faculty with full tenure and senior undergraduate students enrolled in the spring semester of 2016. KSU, the third-largest university in the state of Georgia, with a minimum sample of 681 randomly selected from a sampling frame of 992 faculty and senior undergraduate students. The three validated adopted instruments used were: The Global Competence Aptitude Assessment (GCAA, 2014) for global competence, Global Citizenship Model of Reysen and Katzarska-Miller (2013) for the global citizenry, and the four statements of Lee, Wong, Foo, and Leung for global ventures were administered to collect the data. Data collection employed SurveyMonkey online. The Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient (r) was used to analyze the strength level of the relationships between the variables and linear regression to test the hypotheses using the SPSS version 24.0 software application. The Pearson correlation indicated that global competence and global citizenry are strongly correlated r(681) = 0.70 and the correlation is significant at 0.01 level (2-tailed) leading to the rejection of the Null Hypothesis. Global competence and global ventures are also moderately correlated at Pearson's correlation 0.01 level (2-tailed) with r(681) = 0.59. The relation between the global citizenry and global ventures was moderate with Pearson correlation r (681) = 0.62 significant at 0.01 (2-tailed). The results of the study offer college and university leadership, policy and decision makers, and curriculum and instructional designers with information to better prepare undergraduate students for global engagement and global leadership.
