AbstractThis study examined components that have an effect on crisis response team members' personal motivation to perform campus safety protocols. The research method for this study was a quantitative design. The variables measured were compensation, experience, training, and communication. The motivation sources for this study included instrumental motivation, external self-concept based motivation, internal self-concept based motivation, and goal internalization motivation. Study participants were crisis response team members from a private non-for profit institution in the Southeast region of the United States. The participants responded to a Likert scale survey. Data analysis was conducted using a "t" test to compare the variable means against the selected test value to determine if a difference existed among the means. The results indicated that compensation does not have an effect on crisis response team members personal motivation to perform campus safety protocols. However, the results were inclusive on whether crisis response team members are motivated to choose positions that offer the most compensation. Crisis response team members favored experience, training, and communication as the three variables that motivated them the most to implement campus safety protocols.
