Abstract | Board professionals provide critical support, planning, and coordination of important board functions. Their work is often unheralded and conducted behind the scenes, but it is critical to the success and performance of the board. Since 1991, the Association of Governing Boards (AGB) has surveyed this group to capture the changing nature of their roles over time. The "2015 Survey of Board Professionals," a follow-up to a study conducted in 2010, sought to learn more about their roles, including their reporting relationships, compensation, years of experience, and more. In many ways, the results reflect what is happening in higher education generally--with constrained resources, board professionals are being asked to do more with less. The downloadable full report provides a detailed profile of today's board professional. (As Provided). |
