AbstractProblem: The first problem of this study was to determine the relationship between the clergy family stress scores as measured by the Clergy Family Inventory (CFLI) and the specified predictor variables of social support among Korean-American Baptist pastors. The specified predictor variables included tangible support, appraisal support, self-esteem support, and belonging support as measured by the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL). The second problem of this study was to determine the relationship between the clergy family stress scores as measured by CFLI and scores on four specified predictor variables of social support as measured by ISEL among Korean-American Baptist pastors' wives. The third problem was to determine the difference of clergy family stress between pastors and their wives. Procedures: A total of three hundred and twenty survey packages were mailed to each church of the prospective participant couples who were randomly selected from the 2011 Church Directory of the CKSBC. Out of the one hundred and twenty one returned survey packages, nineteen were invalid. Thus, a total of one hundred six responses of each pastor and wife were included in this study. The survey packet contained the cover letter, the demographic questionnaire, the Clergy Family Inventory (CFLI), and the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL). Two standard multiple regressions were conducted separately for pastors and their wives in order to determine the relationship between clergy family stress scores as measured by CFLI and four predictor variables of social support scores as measured by ISEL. A matched samples t-test was conducted to determine the significant difference in the clergy family stress between pastors and wives. Findings and Conclusion: The standard multiple regression analysis revealed that tangible support was the single significant predictor of the clergy life stress of Korean-American Baptist pastors. For wives, self-esteem support was the only significant predictor of clergy life stress. A matched samples t-test revealed that pastors' wives demonstrated a significantly higher level of clergy life stress than pastors at the 0.05 level.
