| Abstract | This is the fourth in a series of five horse project activity guides for youth. Levels 1-3 focus on "horse-less" activities, while Levels 4 and 5 zero in on riding and horsemanship. Each guide has an achievement program to encourage youth to learn and develop life skills. The assistance of a horse project helper in completing the achievement programs is very important. Beginning riding skills and everything youth need to know before they get on a horse for the first time are covered in this book. Activities are round pen workout, bridle in a bucket, saddle up, where do you ride, and basic riding. Youth will find interesting and exciting activities in this guide. They will learn about horse nutrition, equine teeth, purchasing decisions, judging horses and much more. This guide contains the following chapters: (1) Getting Ready; (2) Riding; (3) Training; and (4) Style. Glossary and resources are included.
