Abstract | The Communities For Equity was a group of Michigan mothers who filed a Title IX discrimination suit against the Michigan High School Athletic Association due to its athletic scheduling practices. The 10-year court battle went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. This case study reviewed the policy decisions of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association as they responded to the CFE v. MHSAA court decision. The six members of the WIAA Executive Staff and 10 members of the WIAA Board of Control were interviewed to determine their commitment to changing the seasonal placement of one sport to attain gender equity in accordance with Title IX. The study found that the WIAA was not willing to change its scheduling policies at this time. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
