Abstract | To raise the achievement of every student, Maryland designed "Achievement Matters Most," a plan for public schools that sets goals in the areas of achievement, teaching, testing, safety, and family involvement in schools. Achievement Matters Most supports Maryland schools' efforts to meet the goals of the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. This guide for parents of Maryland school students discusses: (1) Maryland's state testing and reporting processes; (2) Programs available to support student achievement; (3) Ways parents can be involved in their child's education; (4) Help for children with disabilities and special needs; and (5) Programs to help plan for a child's future.
