AbstractThis is an overview and synthesis of the Learning and Skills Development Agency's (LSDA's) research and support activity that applies to 14-19 year olds. It pulls together various strands of activity within LSDA between 2000 and 2005 to provide a comprehensive picture of the publications relating to this age group. It is designed for use by policy-makers, practitioners, learners, parents and other stakeholders in the educational system. The report is organised in three sections, denoting key areas of LSDA activity which, although serving different functions, all contribute to the reform process: (1) policy (relating to the Policy and Communication Unit of LSDA); (2) research and evaluation (relating to the research and evaluation department of LSDA); and (3) development programmes (relating to the programme areas of LSDA). This research maps activities from Curriculum 2000 to March 2005, and sets the publications in their historical context and in relation to the key messages coming from government policy statements and steers on the 14-19 educational reforms. In consolidating and mapping activities from Curriculum 2000 to 2005, this helps with the identification of key recurrent themes, and indicates areas of strength and those requiring development if the 14-19 reforms are to become a reality.
