Abstract	"Zero to Three is a single focus bulletin of the National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families providing insight from multiple disciplines on the development of infants, toddlers, and their families. Noting the greater variety of families children are entering or in which children are growing up, this issue focuses on looking beyond family forms and circumstances to focus on the child's experience, the quality of the child's important relationship, and the support for healthy development that these provide. The articles draw on extensive reviews of research literature, longitudinal ethnographic research, intervention studies, clinical practice, and careful observation to explore many varieties of "responsible commitment" that parents make to children in the earliest years and to each other. The featured articles are as follows: (1) "For Better or for Worse: An Ecological Perspective on Parents' Relationships and Parent-Infant Interaction" (Amy Susman-Stillman, Karen Appleyard, and Jessica Seibenbruner); (2) "Marriage: A Luxury Good?" (Frank F. Furstenberg); (3) "Very Young Children in Lesbian- and Gay-Headed Families: Moving beyond Acceptance" (Virginia Casper); (4) "Kinscription: Mothers Keeping Fathers Connected to Children" (Kevin Roy and Linda Burton); (5) "The Caregiving System in Separated and Divorcing Parents" (Judith Solomon); and (6) "Parenting Together after Divorce: Navigating the Winds of Change" (Bernadette Marie Bullock and Marion S. Forgatch). Also included is a report on improving psychosocial preparedness for young children and families in the context of terrorism concerns (Howard J. Osofsky and Joy D. Osofsky). Regular departments in the bulletin list Zero to Three publications, videotapes and on-line resources, and Zero to Three staff announcements. (HTH)
