After "Introduction: Silenced Voices and Extraordinary Conversations" (Michelle Fine and Lois Weis), Part 1, "Scenes of Silencing," includes: (1) "Silencing and Nurturing Voice in an Improbable Context: Urban Adolescents in Public School" (Michelle Fine); (2) "Sexuality, Schooling, and Adolescent Females: The Missing Discourse of Desire" (Michelle Fine); (3) "Constructing the 'Other': Discursive Renditions of White Working-Class Males in High School" (Lois Weis); and (4) "Acquiring White Working-Class Identities: Legitimate and Silenced Discourse within the School" (Lois Weis). Part 2, "Scenes of Extraordinary Conversations," includes: (5) "Before the Bleach Gets Us All" (Michelle Fine, Bernadette Anand, Carlton Jordan, and Dana Sherman); (6) "Learning to Speak Out in an Abstinence-Based Sex Education Group: Gender and Race Work in an Urban Magnet School" (Lois Weis and Doris Cabonell-Medina); and (7) "Revisiting the Struggle for Integration" (Michelle Fine and Bernadette Anand).
