Abstract | This is a summary of external recognition achieved by the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST). Data were collected as part of the institution's accreditation efforts and included information on three types of external recognition: (1) formal accreditation or program evaluation; (2) other external recognition of a program's curriculum; and (3) recognition of a specific course. In the category of formal accreditation, there must be an external accreditation body (either provincial or national) that examines the program's curriculum and delivery methods according to specified standards and then confers accreditation for a specific amount of time (usually 5 years). The other external recognition category includes recognition conferred by an external body or agency that is not a formal accrediting body, but that recognizes the quality of the whole program as meeting some external standards. Recognition of a specific course is achieved when a course within a program meets the standards of an external body. This report, updated annually, organizes information according to the SIAST program name, academic division, accreditation body, and current status within the accreditation process. (RC) |
