Abstract | This booklet contains examples of volunteer projects related to solid waste management as developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), whose mission is to protect human health and the natural environment. EPA's Office of Solid Waste (OSW) promotes volunteerism and community service programs for people of all ages. A variety of service projects are featured in this booklet. They include reuse, recycling, composting, and household hazardous waste projects. It is believed that one of the most powerful ways people learn about waste reduction, recycling, and composting is through hands-on experiences. (KHR) |
