AbstractThis document presents Montana's standards and guidelines for career and vocational/technical education (CVTE). The guide begins with a directory of Montana's key CVTE personnel and specialists. Part 1 presents the federal and state definitions of CVTE and provides an overview of Montana's system for delivering CVTE and its philosophy regarding CVTE. Part 2 contains the general requirements of secondary CVTE programs and the following items: a secondary CVTE forms due dates calendar; an outline of annual state secondary CVTE application procedures; requirements regarding secondary CVTE program evaluation and CVTE student follow-up information; and standards for local CVTE advisory committees. The remaining two-thirds of the guide provide information specific to each of the following components of Montana's secondary-level CVTE program: agricultural education; business/technology and marketing education; family and consumer sciences education; industrial/technology education; and trade and industrial education. Some or all of the following items are provided for each CVTE component: vision and mission statements; a statement of the component's scope; lists of occupations to be served and instructor qualifications; program recommendations; program guidelines; a list of facilities and equipment; and information about pertinent student organizations, class size, and cooperative work experiences. Guidelines regarding local CVTE advisory committees and a list of 10 relevant World Wide Web sites are appended. (MN)
