Abstract | Articles in this volume focus on the following: student counseling and other factors determining course choices of university students; a focus on unspecific diagnoses of students with learning disabilities; self-evaluations aimed at improving the quality of schools; relationship of academic goals and the use of different learning and study strategies; transitions during the first year of university studies (survey of the reasons to change or withdraw); age and cultural values as determinants for an intercultural curriculum; self-esteem evaluations in a sample of students in public and private elementary schools; professional development of counselors in secondary schools: an analysis of the professional requirements and an outlook; university education and the building of social networks as a professional outreach strategy; a model of casual relationships between goal orientation and cognitive and self-regulatory learning strategies. Education and the information society; and education and research in a cognitive society; assessment and counseling perspectives.
