Abstract | This document is comprised of 7 issues of a newsletter for the 25 leaders of citywide after-school initiatives in major cities across the United States who comprise the Cross-Cities Network for Leaders of Citywide After-School Initiatives, funded through the National Institute on Out-of-School Time. Each issue of the newsletter provides information on a particular issue related to after-school programs, and describes programs in various cities in a "City Spotlight" column. The foci of the issues in this document are: (1) program accountability (November 2000); (2) staff recruitment, orientation, and professional development (March 2001); (3) emerging roles in the field, such as technology teachers, youth advocates, and trainers (June 2001); (4) building a skilled and stable workforce (Special Issue); (5) partnerships with schools (November 2001); (6) setting standards (March 2002); and (7) Focusing on connections (May 2002). Some issues include information on resources for after-school initiatives. (KB) |
