Abstract | This bibliography of 95 items is intended to help parents and professionals identify books that are written about or include characters with a disability. The list is grouped according to the following disabilities or issues: attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, Down syndrome, hearing impairment (including deafness, learning disabilities, mental retardation, physical disabilities, serious medical or life-threatening conditions, sibling issues, visual impairment including blindness) and other disabilities or issues. The appropriate age group or grade level for each book is indicated to assist parents and professionals in determining which of these books meet a specific student's needs, along with publisher and publication date. At times, additional information about the story is indicated. A list of publishers is provided at the end of the document. (CR) |
