Abstract	This Spanish language booklet, also available in English, provides "los cuatro pasos"--four steps that parents and children can take to ensure that students properly prepare for college. Step one discusses why it is important to go to college; reasons include better job opportunities, more earning potential, and the increased variety of jobs one can get with more education. Examples of jobs requiring two years, four years, or graduate school are listed. Step two covers courses that middle school students should take to prepare for college; learning algebra and geometry early is especially important. A chart provides a breakdown of the courses children should take and for how many years. "Usted no esta solo: ayuda para padres" provides resources and encouragement for parents who may not have been to college themselves. Step three looks at college costs and what students and parents can do to prepare for this significant expense. Step four, "Elpago de la universidad: Hay ayuda disponible, pero tambien ahorre" provides suggestions for paying for college. Government grants, work-study, federal loans, and other forms of financial aid are possibilities; other options include scholarships, foundation grants and loans, and military enrollment. (RJM/EMK)
