| Abstract | This brief report contains basic data on the management of pupils' school time in European primary and secondary education. A wide range of aspects are covered, including the duration of compulsory education, the organization of the school year, the distribution of holidays, and daily and weekly timetables. A description is given of each of these, together with a comparative picture illustrated by graphs. The countries profiled include: (1) Belgium; (2) Denmark; (3) Germany; (4) Greece; (5) Spain; (6) France; (7) Ireland; (8) Italy; (9) Luxembourg; (10) the Netherlands; (11) Austria; (12) Portugal; (13) Finland; (14) Sweden; and (15) the United Kingdom.
