Abstract | This paper presents two studies in which personal constructs are used to document the nature of learning in professional preparation programs: a study of student teachers and a study of student nurses. Employing narrative inquiry and reflection on construct changes, learners discuss their experiences in the professional preparation programs. Insights from the two studies are described and compared, and a case is made for the inclusion of student voices in the teaching-learning dialogue and in the planning of professional educational programs.
