AbstractThis anthology consists of 7 presentations given by invited speakers and 15 essays that show how crafts form both a theoretical and practical discourse that deals with the most varied individual, cultural, and behavioral phenomena. They involve the concept of sloyd, derived from a Swedish word, an umbrella term for making or crafting things by hand. The presentations are as follows: "A Qualitative Approach to Research on Artistic Phenomena" (Elliot W. Eisner); "Conservative Craft and Progressive Education" (Sven G. Hartman), English abstract and Swedish text; "Multiteoretisk Metodologi i slojdforskning" (Juhani Peltonen); "Research on Arts and Crafts as Cultural Phenomena" (Elliot W. Eisner); "Som Siojd en del av hallbar utveckling" (Ulla Suojanen); "The Psychology of Image Formation: Subject and Object Dimensions" (Andrei Podolskij); and "Kunskap Genom Handen" (Arne Klingborg).
