Abstract | This annotated bibliography lists some of the resources and materials that the 12 national business organizations constituting the Business Coalition for Education Reform (BCER) have available to assist those interested in strengthening U.S. schools through the following activities: raising academic standards for all students; ensuring that academic standards reflect the skills needed for sustaining a growing economy; and helping the public understand the critical need for world-class academic standards and the changes needed for school systems to deliver them. The resources are organized in 13 sections--one for the BCER and one for each of its member organizations, which are as follows: American Business Conference; Black Business Council; Business-Higher Education Forum; The Business Roundtable; Committee for Economic Development; The Conference Board; Council on Competitiveness; Chamber of Commerce of the United States; National Alliance of Business; National Association of Manufacturers; National Association of Women Business Owners; and U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. More than 75 available kits, print publications, and videos are listed. Each section includes some or all of the following: introduction providing a brief history of the organization, statement of its mission, and overview of its major activities; annotated listings of its available resources; and contact person.
