| Abstract | Designed by California's Los Rios Community College District for use in instructional workshops, this guide is intended to help institutional researchers create World Wide Web sites using Microsoft FrontPage (MF) software. The first part of the guide presents practical suggestions for working with the software to create a site, covering the following topics: converting MS Office documents to hypertext markup language (HTML); understanding the role of MF in site development; creating a new or opening an existing MF Web page; editing and previewing pages; creating links between and within pages; inserting, formatting, and linking graphic images on pages; creating, modifying, and enhancing tables; verifying links; using the MF help function; and publishing the Web site, or loading it onto the Web server. The second part of the guide provides information related to managing a Web site, discussing issues related to: the amount of time needed to build and maintain a site; how to promote a site; sample policies for publishing on the Web; online resources for site development and a list of books on MF; instructions for installing MF; and hardware and software requirements and costs for managing a site or managing an entire server.
